Doug Crinklaw

Doug Crinklaw "discovered" fly fishing right here in Lake City at Dan's Fly Shop.  A serendipitous turn South on 149 after a break in a storm during a camping trip, led Doug and his family to Lake City in 1995.  As a teenager he had dreamed of fly fishing after reading stacks of old Field and Stream magazines at his cousin's fishing cabin in Lake Champlain, NY.  Driving through Lake City on that storm interrupted day, Doug spotted the fly shop and asked to be dropped at Dan's while the rest explored the town.  When the family returned three hours later, Doug had prepared his entire birthday wish list.  He has been an avid fly fisherman since, exploring almost all of the trout waters of Arizona and much of Southern Utah with regular visits to the San Juans before settling here in 2001.  Doug loves to share his fishing knowledge.  He is a patient instructor on the stream and is great with young fisherpersons.

After serving in the U.S. Naval Submarine Service and retiring from  engineering and production management, Doug has recently been licensed in Real Estate Appraisal which he practices in Lake City.  http://www.apraz.biz.

When Doug is not guiding or appraising, he can be found spreading his boundless enthusiasm in various volunteer projects in the community.

You might hear him quote Yogi Berra as he guides you up a stream, "You've got to be very careful if you don't know where you are going, because you might not get there."
